What is infertility?
Infertility is defined as not being able to conceive after one year of unprotected sex. It is a major issue in today's generation. Every couple desires to conceive a baby in a lifetime.
Most couples will achieve pregnancy after 1 year of struggle.
Causes of infertility
The major causes of infertility are irregular menstrual cycle, hormonal issues, structural problems, obesity, being underweight, and age. Problems in the fallopian tube and in the ovary lead to infertility.
Fallopian tube damage
It is the basic issue of infertility. When the fallopian tube damages the sperm will not be able to travel and hence cannot reach to egg or the fertilized egg will face difficulty to reach the uterus where further development takes place.
There are many reasons for damaging the fallopian tube. First, it damages because there occurs the severe infection called pelvic inflammatory infection and it is due to sexually transmitted diseases(syphilis.gonorrhea.genital herpes, and AIDS).
Problem in ovulation
Due to irregular periods or missing periods, the woman will not release the healthy egg and there will be no chances of fertilization. Ovulation issues usually result from hormonal imbalances. The hormones such as FSH, LH, and estrogen causes ovulation if these hormones are not released properly or if they are released at the wrong time or in the wrong amount then the ovulation process will be affected.
Problems with uterus
The fertilized egg comes in the uterus where the development of the fetus occurs. If there is some problem with the uterus then the fertilized egg will not attach to the walls of the uterus and usually, it becomes the reason for miscarriage.
Other reasons for infertility
This may include immune system problems, diabetes, cancer, asthma, depression, or high blood pressure.
Treatment
Treatment for infertility depends on the age, how long have you been trying, and financial cons and prons.
Treatment with drugs
Drugs may be taken orally or injected and trigger the process of ovulation by increasing the hormone supply. Those hormones which are crucial for ovulation will be triggered by these drugs.
Surgery
The blocked fallopian tube and problems in the uterus may be treated through surgeries.
Associative reproductive technology
In this technology, the egg is fertilized outside the female body, for example in the lab and after this, the fertilized egg and put back in the female body for the development of the fetus.
