According to the cricket governing body, Babar’s match-winning performance against South Africa in the third and final ODI against South Africa helped him gain 13 rating points.
The batsman had started the three-match ODI series 20 points behind Kohli and finished eight points ahead of the India batsman, earning 28 points in the series in which he scored 228 runs.
Babar is only the fourth Pakistani batsman to achieve the feat; emulating compatriots Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and Mohammad Yousuf.
